Tien Giang – A Promising Hub for Broiler Farming in the Mekong Delta

Tien Giang is one of the leading provinces in agricultural and livestock development in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region. Among its strengths, broiler poultry farming plays a key role in supplying food for the domestic market and contributing to household economic growth.

By the end of 2024, the total poultry population in Tien Giang reached approximately 17 million, a 3.7% increase compared to the previous year, with broilers accounting for the majority. Districts such as Cho Gao, Go Cong Tay, and Chau Thanh have focused on developing medium to large-scale broiler farming models, gradually shifting from small household operations to more centralized systems that apply biosecurity and technological management.

However, local farmers are still facing several challenges, including rising input costs (especially feed and veterinary medicine), volatile market prices, and seasonal disease risks. Access to technical solutions, market information, and modern management practices is essential for maintaining productivity and ensuring sustainable development in the current context.
