Dong Thap Poultry Industry: Sustainable Growth Towards Higher Value
In 2025, Dong Thap’s poultry industry continued to expand through larger-scale production, strengthened biosecurity, and greater value chain integration. The province maintained its position as one of the leading poultry production hubs in the Mekong Delta, with an estimated poultry population of 23.8 million birds, of which ducks accounted for a significant share thanks to the region’s extensive rice-growing areas. Livestock production was valued at approximately VND 13.388 trillion, while egg production reached around 1.9 billion eggs, contributing about 27% of the province’s total agricultural production value.
Looking ahead to 2026, Dong Thap will continue promoting a modern, green, and sustainable livestock sector by expanding biosecure farming practices, accelerating technology adoption and digital transformation in farm management, and strengthening value chain linkages. The province also aims to improve breeding quality, enhance disease control, and develop livestock products that meet food safety and traceability standards.
Under the 2026–2030 Development Plan, Dong Thap targets maintaining a poultry population of approximately 28.27 million birds, including around 8.2 million ducks, further reinforcing its position as one of the Mekong Delta’s key poultry production centres.
