vesicles or vesicle-like lesions around the mouth, snout, feet, or coronary bands may resemble important diseases such as <\/span><b>foot-and-mouth disease (FMD)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, disease associated with <\/span><b>Senecavirus A<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and other vesicular diseases of pigs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is particularly important diagnostically.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If pigs develop <\/span><b>vesicular or vesicle-like lesions around the mouth, snout, feet, or coronary bands<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, particularly when multiple animals are affected at the same time, swinepox should not be assumed and the herd should not continue to be moved as normal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A veterinarian should be contacted to assess the animals, exclude vesicular diseases of major epidemiological significance, and determine ectoparasites and insects, including mites and flies, should also be managed as part of general parasite control and farm hygiene. Their role in swinepox transmission should not be assumed to be equivalent to the better-established association with pig lice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ectoparasite management should therefore be considered an important part of swinepox prevention and control.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Factors That Can Accelerate Spread Within a Farm<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span
