Under the 'Livestock Development Strategy' of the Ministry of Agriculture an Rural Development ( MARD ), livestock production will change to that of intensive and industrial production by 2020 where livestock production will reach 42% of total agriculture production. Livestock production is projected to increase by an average of 6% till 2020.

Dressed meat production will reach 3,200,000 tons by 2010 and reach 5,500,000 tons by 2020 comprising 60% pork, 32% poultry and 4% beef. Poultry production will see the biggest growth from 27% to 32%.

Milk production is projected to increase from 380,000 tons in 2010 to 1,000,000 tons by 2020.

Per capital consumption will increase from 36kg of meat, 82 eggs, 4.3kg milk in 2010 to 56kg meat, 140 eggs and 10kg of milk by 2020.

Commercial slaughtered and processed meat will make up 40% of meat production from 15% in 2010.

Feed production will increase dramatically by 7.8% annually to reach 19,000,000 tons.

Goat & Sheep production to grow by 7% and reach 3.9 million heads.
